The advent of DVD technology has coincided with the greatest challenges to surgery — increased expectation of surgeons has coincided with reduced working hours, shortened training time and reduced operative opportunity. Increased specialisation means fewer procedures for trainee and practising surgeons to maintain their fluency. DVD technology permits several hours of high-quality footage to be viewed interactively by the subscribing surgeon. Any part of the procedure can be viewed and reviewed from a number of angles, independently or all at once, providing valuable insights into the entire theatre of activity.
